We Are a Happy Family

I entitled the post as I did because the kids say this lately---"We are a happy family". I think they learned the song at church, but it got me to thinking. So, two weeks ago, in Family Home Evening, we talked about what a happy family is. I think we'd talked about it before, but it's always so fun to hear their thoughts. It really gave me a chance to think about what is most important. I love those reminders because they always make all the insignificant garbage disappear.

I mean, happiness is profound. There's nothing silly or light or unimportant about it. We all know that we cannot be happy every second of every day because sometimes life is hard. However, having a happy core, knowing that you can come back to that as a default, is huge. When the kids talk about having a happy family, I feel even happier and so incredibly grateful that they feel that way. What could make a parent happier than to know that their kids consider their family to be happy?

Today, I'm grateful for a happy family. And millions of other things, yes. But today, I am focusing on this one thing. And what about you? Today, what are you grateful for?

The kids love feeding Baby Alex.

Our sweet, smiling 4-year-old

It's not clear in the picture, but Abraham is holding his Book of Mormon. He had told Annabelle they were going to read together. Notice how she's sitting attentively, ready to learn :)

She draws this same picture of "William" about once a week. She's very proud of her work.

She is pointing out that her Daddy has a big smile. That's how she always draws him too!

Alexander's latest tricks...He knows he is entertaining us and really hams it up

Another of his famous tricks!

SO SO CUTE!!! If I were one of your kids, I'd be saying the same thing!!! You and William are so attentive to your little ones. You really listen to them, and engage them in great conversations.

You are both making your home a place of love, learning and peace. Of course they are happy!! They have great role models...we all feel that way about you two!! :)

These pictures are just precious! I love them! Please keep these adorable pictures coming!!

We had a similar happy family FHE this month. Love the biting trick. Very nifty. Ethan used to do it with full cups and full plates.

I love reading about your happy family. What a testament to your parenting skills! The Lord told John that He has no greater happiness than to know His children walk in truth, and your kids have both. What a wonderful family you have! Thanks for sharing.

I love your happy family! It's so true what you say, it feels so good to be happy down deep and get reminded of that by your kids once in awhile. It does wash away the unimportant things. Thanks for sharing!
